What is the difference between communal and Agentic friendships
Replying to batson (this issue), who argues that the difference between communal and exchange relationships is less than might be imagined, the authors review the communal/exchange distinction, discuss what it does and does not mean, and address specific issues raised by batson.Communal culture and individualist culture are two types of cultures that can be seen in a society between which a key difference can be identified.Agentic friends often develop strong bonds quickly because they share a common goal and this type of friendship most easily morphs into true friendship.Behavior was studied in three situations varying in social role and dyadic gender composition:Agentic friends may help with studying for an exam, completing projects, or helping move houses. This culture dictates the values , customs , mores , norms , beliefs and social taboos of a particular society.
The present research examined the moderating influence of situations involving friends and romantic partners on gender differences in interpersonal behaviors reflecting agency and communion.
